Sportfishing
in central Sweden
Sweden covers 485 000 square km
(180 000 square miles) which is approximately twice the size of the United
Kingdom. It´s water boundaries are the Gulf of Bothnia and the Baltic
Sea (the largest brakish water-sea in the world) on the east coast and on
the west coast lies the North Sea. With 60 000 km (38 000 miles) of rivers
and streams, 100 000 lakes and a coastline of more than 7 500 km (4 600 miles),
Sweden offers an incredibly wide variety of fishing experiences. The world-record
chart of the International Game Fish Association and their annual worldwide
fishing contest tells the story of the unique and impressive fishing for such
high-ranked game fish as Salmon and Northern Pike in Swedish waters.
Swedens' Great Lakes
In the beautiful and manyfold Great Lakes District of Central Sweden, lie
Lake Vänern and Lake Vättern (two of Europes' biggest lakes) which
are outstanding worldwide, regarding fishing for Landlocked Atlantic Salmon.
The heaviest rod-caught Landlocked Atlantic Salmon (an unofficial world record)
to date tipped the scales at (44.88 lb) 20,4 kg. That monster was caught in
Lake Vättern.
In the north part of the lake there is a beautiful archipelago with a genuine
stock of Pike.
"Bjorn is one of Sweden´s best sportfishing photographers
and also a very skillful flyfisher. Bjorn has explored and documented innumerable
russian rivers in the Archangel region and on the Kola Peninsula. We are very
happy to have him in our team"
President Christer Sjoberg, Loop Tackle Design.
"Dear Mr. Blomqvist,
We are preparing a book about Salmon, "The Ultimate Book of Salmon of
the World". Our author, Mr. Paul Boyer, the best known of the French
authorities on the subject, will also give us many photos to illustrate his
text. But he would be very happy and proud to have some of yours in his book.
He has seen and admired many of them, and instructed us to ask you if you
could be so kind as to send us a choice of slides concerning Salmon and Salmon
fishing..."
Michèle Reby, Editorial Manager of Nature Department.
"Bjorn from Tibro is one of the greatest sportfishing
photographers in Sweden. Thanks for the pictures"
Jan Johansson, Writer of the book (Laks) Salmon.
