Southern Sweden's Survival School
Granvik stands on the eastern border of a forest stretching westwards from L.Vättern to L.Vänern. According to botanists, the forest around Granvik holds the majority of the flora found generally in coniferous subarctic regions on every continent in the northern hemisphere. We were, therefore, the natural choice as the centre for Southern Sweden's Survival School, for both civilians and military. Together with Karlsborg's Tourist Office or the Swedish Military,we can arrange 1 to 4-day courses for both private persons and companies.Lake Vättern's Sportfishing Centre / 'TOP - 10 Swedish Sportfishing' Member
Lake Vättern is one of the Sweden's greatest treasures. Second only to Lake Vänern (Europe's largest) in size,it is a 'gold mine' for sportfishermen, with water so pure you may drink it freely! With vast numbers of natural lake-run Arctic char, perch, grayling and whitefish, it has astounded the world's press with its' unique and world's record-sized landlocked Atlantic salmon.Charterboat "Moby Dick". With eight years charter experience, both summer and winter, our charterboat has proven itself an effective sportfishing-machine for any season. "Moby Dick" is an extra beamy Swedish-designed 7 meter boat fully equipped for fishing, with all necessary nav, sonar and communication elec- tronics, as well as a heated cabin seating up to six persons comfortably. Moored in our newly reenovated harbour, travel-time to productive fishing-water is a mere 5 minutes. One kilometer from Granvik along the shore stretches a unique and beautiful archepelago, newly designated as an island nature preserve, the Ombo Islands Reserve. This area is as suitable for sportfishing as it is for a cruise: "Moby Dick" is also superbly suitable for both sightseeing and as a taxi for groups interested in spending the day birdwatching, sunbathing, or spinfishing from the islands. In spring and fall 'Pike Safaris' are also available among L.Vättern's north- ern archepelago.

Within 3 km of Granvik lie some of Tiveden Forest's lovliest lakes, stocked with rainbow and brown trout. Fishing licences as well as rental boats and spinning rods and lures are available here."Ivan".. our Siberian sauna
Down through the ages the steam or sweat bath has been a very popular group -activity for cleansing both body and soul. In Scandinavia the sauna or bastu is as common in the home as it is in other countries' more exclusive health spas. Properly used, the bastu cleanses the skin, increases circulation and gives an exhil- -erating feeling of well-being and relaxation. A tiny 'cabin',our 'Ivan' has been hewn out of Siberian logs and stands descreetly at the far side of our bathing beach, directly on the lakeshore. For many of our guests, a sauna-bath after a day of work or activity is simply a given !Tiveden's Forest Trails
With some exceptions, travel though Tiveden has historically been limited to footpaths and horseback.Modern roads today give much greater freedom of access, but the forest is best seen in all its' beauty, on foot. Tiveden is criss- crossed by wonderful trails, some dating back several centuries. For both the bot- anist and birdwatcher, berry- and mushroom-picker, nature-lover and backpack-er, Granvik is as natural a starting-point, as a final destination.Granvik's Harbour
During past centuries, a port of call for ferryboat traffic, our tiny, newly restored harbour today provides moorings for guesting summer sail- and motorboats. Electrical outlets, boatramp, shower and toilets nearby, make it both a popular and pleasing stop as well as safe and convenient moorings for seasonal boaters. In Fall and Winter, it gains international fame when it once again fills with sport- fishing boats from many countries during the International Trolling Tournament, Laxcup Vättern. This year, the 1996 Laxcup will also host the final leg and Grand Prize Ceremony of the Swedish Open Trolling-Masters Tournament planned for the second week of November.
