By the way of introduction, my name is Jan Olsson and I am an avid sportfisher-man, outdoor writer and IGFA representant for Sweden. My fishing is done primarily in Scandinavian waters but I also indulge in both fresh and salt water fishing from time to time abroad. I was born in Gothenburg more than half a century ago and have been fishing as long as I can remember. Since my graduation in communications almost 30 years ago I have been active as assistant public relations director at the Eriksberg Shipyard and freelance outdoor writer, as well as editor of several fishing books and producer of sportfishing videos
I am the author of The Complete Book of Trolling which has been translated into several languages. As sportfishing adviser I have worked with the Swedish Television, BBC, ITV and different Tourist Boards at home and abroad. I am active in severa l sportfishing and conservation committees and since 1975 the Swedish representative for the International Game Fish Association (IGFA). I hold honorary membership of the Swedish Anglers« National Association and of the Gothenburg Deep Sea Angling Club. My travelling has taken me to the Arctic region as well as to Equatorial waters. With fly rod or big game equipment I have, i. e. succesfully battled heavy tarpon in Costa Rica, bonefish in Florida, Pacific salmon in USA, halibuts in Icelandic waters, skates in British waters and big bluefin, yellowfin and big eye tuna out of Gran Canaria. I am also one of very few anglers who has caught Atlantic salmon weighing more than 30 lbs of both the Atlantic Ocean strain, the Baltic Sea strain and the landlocked Vänern - Gullsp ng strain. This unique Grand Slam Atlantic Salmon trio was caught in Scandinavia when flyfishing in River Surna and Off shore-trolling in Bay of Pukavik and Lake Vättern. I am also the IGFA World record holder (All tackle) for Common skate.
